Anglo-Saxon England, Secondary Series (710-760), Sceat, 'Serpent', Series K/R mule, type 86a, coiled serpent looking left, extended triple-ended tongue between fangs with pelleted body and pellets in field, rev. beaded standard with central pellet-in-annulet, pellets in angles, line at compass points to each side and diagonal to each corner joining standard to line-beaded border, linear outer border with pellets in outer margin, 1.06g (SL 42-10 plate coin; Abramson, 2012b, plate; SCBI 69, 547 this coin; T&S pp. 449; MEC 8 Series SP; North -; Spink 830), small edge split, otherwise lightly toned on a fuller flan, a pleasingly good very fine, extremely rare.
