Anglo-Saxon England, Primary Series (680-710), Sceat, "Series E", type 89, SEDE (or AESE [?]) divided by four saltire pommées, central cross pommée, rev. serpent coiled anticlockwise, open mouth with curl before, protecting central cross pommée, quills radiating to edge, 1.31g, 180° (SL 93-20; cf. SCBI 69, 300; T&S pp. 246, 263; JMP pp. 222-23), a strikingly well-centred example, toned, extremely fine and most handsome, very rare.
