Republic gold Pattern 5 Zlotych 1928-Dated UNC Details (Removed From Jewelry) NGC, KM-Pn316, Parchimowicz-P191c, Kienast-399. 36mm. 39.28gm. By Karl Goetz. An extremely rare and intriguing gold issue by Karl Goetz (1875-1950), a German medallist known for his stylistic and often controversial creations, featuring the famous painting of Our Lady of Czestochowa (Matka Boska Czestochowska), also known as the Black Madonna, housed in the Jasna Góra monastery. As with many Goetz issues, the present type was created more for novelty than for serious consideration as currency, and, though dated 1928, little is known about precisely when it was struck. Lightly polished.
