ARABIA, Provincial issue probably struck at Bostra, Trajan (A.D. 98-117), silver tridrachm, issued 103-111, (11.01 g), obv. laureate head of Trajan to right, slight drapery on left shoulder, around AYTOKP KAIC NEP TPAIANOC CEB **GERM DAK*, rev. Arabia standing to left, camel at feet on left, around **DHMARC EX UPAT* E, (S.-, BMC 59-61, Syd. 182 (Caesarea), SNG ANS 1153, SNG Von Post 531, Metcalf 2 [ANS MN 20 p.104]). Nearly very fine and rare.

The attribution away from the traditional city of Caesarea in Cappadocia was first made by W.E. Metcalf in 1975 from the evidence of the Tell Kalak (near Amman, Jordan) hoard [ANS MN 20, p.99]. In that hoard of 2350 coins were found with ten coins of this type present. Kindler (The Coinage of Bostra) attributes the issue to Bostra (Pl.VI, 4).
