Robert Bowes Stanley Mackinnon, station overseer, age 22, born at Young, NSW; Enl.04Nov1914 at Holsworthy, NSW in 3nd Rfts 7LHR and posted as a Trooper; Emb.05Feb1915; to Gallipoli 06Aug1915; TOS 7LHR 07Aug1915; WIA 25Aug1915 GSW left leg, at Gallipoli; to 3AGH with pyelitis 19Jun1916 and discharged 25Jun1916; sprained ankle at Cairo 19Jul1916, stood on a stone when getting off train; to A/Cpl 08Sep1917; at Rest Camp at Port Said was caught playing 'two up' and penalised by reverting to rank of Trooper 22Mar1918; TOS Anzac Provost Corps at Moascar 28Apr1918; trf to 7LHR 23May1918; RTA 07Feb1920; Disch.03Jul1920; married Ivy Vivienne Baxter at St Saviour's Cathedral, Goulburn on 26Nov1924; Died 17Sep1943.

The following report of Robert Mackinnon's death (note the article has his middle name as Bruce instead of Bowes) was published in the Goulburn Evening Post, Monday 27 September 1943, p2 and the Cootamundra Herald, Friday 8 October 1943, p2.
'The death occurred recently of Mr.Robert Bruce (sic) Mackinnon, of Parramatta, a member of a well known Young family. His father, the late Mr. James Mackinnon, was a member of the Legislative Assembly in the days before payment of members. He represented Young from 1882 to 1894. Deceased served in the Great War, as a trooper in the Australian Light Horse in Palestine against the Turks, under General Allenby. His O.C. was General Granville Ryrie. His death in Randwick Hospital was a result of ailments contracted during the war. Mrs. Ivy Mackinnon, his widow, was a daughter of the late Mr. Harry Baxter, of Goulburn, founder of Baxter and Co. Pty. Ltd., boot manufacturers.'
