TRIO TO KIA AT GALLIPOLI: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 655 Pte A.J.Turner. 18/Bn A.I.F. All medals impressed. Extremely fine.

Together with Mothers' and Widows' Ribbon WWI with one star; Rising Sun collar badge in oxidised bronze; small Princess Mary card 1915; photos.

Alfred James Turner, storeman, age 34, born at Battersea, Middlesex, England; Enl.05Feb1915 at Liverpool, NSW; Emb.25Jun1915; to join MEF at Gallipoli 16Aug1915 with B Coy 18Bn; MIA 27Aug1915 at Gallipoli then declared 'killed in action' following Court of Inquiry held at Tel-el-Kebir, Egypt 21Jan1916 - one witness said that he was killed by a shell in the trenches before Hill 60 on 27Aug. Another witness said that in the first charge against Hill 60 Turner was acting as stretcher bearer to Lt. Marjason's party. He went out on the second attack and was not seen again.
