CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation. 10 Dollars, 1922. P-S317a. PCGS Banknote Choice About Uncirculated 58.
(S/M#Y-13). Chefoo. Low three digit serial number of "00725." An extremely important HKSBC offering on this scarce Chefoo City note. This medium format note displays a vignette of a woman making lace at left, with arms found at center. Typical sharp design styling of TDLR at this time period and seen with manuscript Accountant and Agent signatures. The face of the note displays a border design in dark purple ink, with light green & yellow ink making up the underprinting.

The reverse of the note displays two bank buildings surrounded by an ornate design which shows off intricate lathe work. The margins are wide and the paper remains bright after being on this Earth for nearly a century. The last time we sold this pick variety was seven years ago, so it might be some time before this type makes another appearance at public auction. This note is most likely missing from even the most advanced Chinese Paper Money collections, and we would not be surprised if our high estimate is met or exceeded.

Estimate: $12000.00- $14000.00
