This note is the highest denomination for this series and the first issued note for this type that we can recall handling in recent memory. Deep purple ink makes up the geometrically heavy border design, and intricate lathe work in light blue ink is found making up the under-printing. The color remains attractive for the assigned condition. This denomination is the most difficult for collectors to acquire from the 1948-51 series, and are seldom offered in public auctions. We expect to see spirited bidding on this lot, and would not be surprised if our high estimate is met & exceeded. Mostly even circulation is noticed, with two stains seen on the reverse.
