(t) CHINA. Gold Presentation Dollar, Year 10 (1921). Tientsin Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-61 Gold Shield.
L&M-1093; K-1570; WS-0067; Wenchao-pg. 78#40 (rarity four stars). Reeded Edge variety. Struck in gold to commemorate the 67th birthday of Hsu Shih-chang. Obverse: President Hsu Shih-chang in formal attire; Reverse: Pavilion at Peking Union Medical College Hospital with legend at the bottom. This sharply struck and nicely preserved survivor exhibits bold, crisp devices accentuating the expressive portrait and intricate Medical College pavilion. The surfaces show signs of handling as one would expect, but nothing of real significance. The rims are intact save for a few minor edge bruises mentioned for the sake of accuracy. This wholesome example displays a pale gold color complemented by light orange patination hugging the devices, all adding a bit of charm to this highly collectable issue.
From the Pinnacle Collection.
Estimate: $40000.00- $60000.00
