JAPAN. Koban (1 Ryo), ND Man'en Era (ca. 1860-62). Emperor Komei. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield.
Fr-17; JNDA-09-23 (16); Bank of Japan-Vol. 4-Unlisted; JV-B109; Hartill-8.26; KM-C-22d. Weight: 3.34 gms. 36.24 x 20.49 mm. This lovely high grade survivor is an example of the last Koban issued in Japan, boasting sharp crisp stamps with corresponding ghosting on both sides coupled with satiny surfaces that display trivial signs of handling. Though it appears in the market with some frequency, seldom are they encountered in this high state of preservation, which should excite the quality-focused collector.

From the Pinnacle Collection.

Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
