CHINA. Dollar, ND (1914). PCGS Genuine--Surface Plated, AU Details Gold Shield.
L&M-858; K-642; KM-Y-322; WS-0094. Diameter: 39mm. Highly brilliant and engaging, this lightly handled example retains a good deal of luster despite its designation, which comes from a gilt plating at some point in its past. A popular and pleasing type no matter the change in its surface color, it is interesting to note that Kann mentioned a line item (K-642c) that is "gold-plated for presentation purposes." As Kann provided no other information as to when or how this gilding was done, it is impossible to know to what he was referring when referencing such a variety, but it is nevertheless fascinating when viewed in light of this particular piece.
Estimate: $4000.00- $6000.00
