(t) CHINA. China - Great Britain. Coronation of Edward VII Engraved Silver Medal, 1902. PCGS Genuine--Holed, EF Details Gold Shield.
cf. L&M-183 (for host coin); cf. K-41 (same); cf. KM-Y-126 (same); cf. WS-0874 (same). This Hupeh minor was repurposed, possibly by a Brit in China, to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII, the son and successor of Queen Victoria. The dragon side features the engraved inscription: "Coronation / of / Edward VII" in three lines, while the characters side reads "CHINKIANG / June 26 / 1902," also engraved in three lines. Additionally, this specimen has been holed, likely for the bearer to wear around their neck. A great piece of coin art showing the interconnected nature of the world, even at the dawn of the 20th century. Pleasantly toned and highly interesting.
Estimate: $400.00- $600.00
