CHINA. Fukien. 10 Cash, CD (1906). PCGS MS-65 Red Brown Gold Shield.
cf. CL-FK.29; KM-Y-10f; CCC-40; Duan-Unlisted. Double Die Reverse. Variety with strokes separated in the character for "Wen". This lovely high grade survivor exhibits attributes not normally encountered baring the double die reverse. The two major die variations of this issuance are strokes connected or strokes not connected for the character "Wen", both of which also come with doubled die versions not listed in the standard references. In fact, this is only the second example of this variety, strokes not connected, with the double die reverse we were able to locate with only two records for the strokes connected variation when searching auction archives. The bold strike offers crisp design features with the doubling most prominent in the Chinese and Manchu characters in the upper legends clearly visible without the aid of magnification. The surfaces are smooth with lovely rich mottled red and brown coloration adding to its pleasing appearance certain to pique the interesting of serious academic collectors actively seeking varieties.

Estimate: $700.00- $1000.00
