(t) CHINA. Szechuan. 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), ND (1901-08). PCGS Genuine--Tooled, EF Details Gold Shield.
L&M-345; K-143g; KM-Y-238.1; WS-0730; Zhang-4-3 (four stars). Narrow Faced Dragon with inverted "Ɐ" for "V" in "PROVINCE" and extra stroke in the character for Mace, "Qian". This seldom encountered calligraphy variant appears on the market from time to time, but usually takes a keen observer to notice and should be considered VERY RARE. Both the obverse and reverse exhibit even wear on the well struck devices. The surfaces show signs of being cleaned and the reverse has some light tooling, as indicated on the PCGS insert, near the bottom legend where someone attempted to remove debris. The brightness is somewhat subdued by faint champagne tone and a couple of areas of minor encrustation still remain. Despite its shortcomings this presentable example is sure excite advanced collectors looking for desirable varieties from this popular province. 2200

Estimate: $700.00- $1000.00
