EGYPT, Alexandria. Trajan. AD 98-117. Æ Drachm (33.5mm, 22.00 g, 12h). Dated RY 2 (AD 98/99). Laureate head right / Nilus reclining left, holding reed and cornucopia from which emerges a Genius; [I]ς above, crocodile below, L B (date) in exergue. Köln 443-4; Dattari (Savio) 973; K&G 27.9; RPC III 4127; Emmett 550.2. Smooth brown patina. Fine. Includes old collection ticket indicating that it was purchased from Anthony, 1965.

This coin was originally sold as a drachm of Nerva (as per the included ticket), as the early Alexandrian portraits of Trajan looked like Nerva. Unfortunately, the Alexandrian mint did not strike any drachms for Nerva.
