Wyon, bust r., revs. Watt's steam engine (dated 1787 on the Mills medal), 45.5mm., 47.5mm. (BHM.983, 985; first Eimer 1115), first nearly extremely fine, second mint state but for minute verdigris stain at nape of neck (2)
Joseph S. Wyon was born in 1836 and the latter medal is believed to have been struck c.1858 when it was adapted as a prize medal for the Institute of Civil Engineers. Both obverses are derived from the sculpted bust by Sir Francis Legatt Chantrey.
