Louis XV gold Louis d'Or Mirliton 1724-)( UNC Details (Saltwater Damage) NGC, Besançon mint, KM-Unl., Gad-339 (R2). Large palms variety. Light adjustment marks, with a touch of saltwater porosity. A pleasing example. Extremely rare and seldom offered. Much more elusive than Gadoury might suggest; the only other example of which we are aware is the Ford specimen. Likely from the 1725 Le Chameau shipwreck, though we have no documentation for this with the coin. Sold with old collector envelope detailing provenance.
