Gingras notes: "In 1898 the Hudson's Bay Company opened a small store in Yorkton [Saskatchewan] to provide better service for settlers in the area. Up to this time the settlers obtained their supplies from Winnipeg and had found this to be inconvenient. The Company's business expanded rapidly in the Colony and resulted in their having to enlarge the premises and to eventually construct a new store." Sold with old collector envelope detailing provenance.
