"Mexican Sou" Blacksmith 1/2 Penny Token ND VF25 Brown NGC, BL-51 (Extremely Rare), Wood-Unl., Robins-29369. Plain edge. Medal alignment. The obverse shows an Indian with bow and arrow (copying a State of Chihuahua 1850 1/4 Real, KM343), and the reverse has a Bouquet, from the Bouquet Sou tokens. Softly struck, particularly around the periphery, with nice central details and a somewhat porous planchet. Perhaps only the fourth example in private hands (along with 2 from the Robins Collection and another in our Part 1 sale of the Partrick Collection), and quite probably the finest known. Sold with old collector envelope detailing provenance.
