Province of Canada. Bank of Montreal/City Bank Mule "Front View" Penny 1837-Dated (1842) MS63 Red and Brown NGC, Br-526, PC-2A1. Plain edge. Medal alignment. As normal for this issue, the strike is superb, with no significant flaws. Considerable golden mint luster remains and the overall appearance is quite attractive. According to Charlton, "this type has long been considered a mule of the 1842 and 1837 one penny tokens, having the 1842 obverse of PC-2B (Br 526) and the reverse of LC-9A (Br 521)." Sold with old collector envelope detailing provenance.
