Herennius Etruscus as Caesar. Sestertius; Herennius Etruscus as Caesar; 250-251 AD, Rome, Sestertius, 19.84g. RIC-167a (R2!), C-12 (BM, 40 Fr.!). Obv: Q HER ETR MES DECIVS NOB C Bare-headed, draped bust r. Rx: P[IET]AS AVGG S - C Mercury standing l. holding purse and short caduceus. Cohen was mistaken to price this sestertius at a high 40 francs, followed by RIC with an inflated R2. It should have been 15 francs, Cohen's base price for sestertii of Etruscus, since it is not a particularly rare coin, appearing regularly on the market and occurring in nine specimens in the Guelma hoard..
