Calabria, Tarentum (c.380-340 BC), Silver Stater, naked ephebos on horse standing right, lifting its left foreleg, Θ below, rev TAPAΣ, Taras astride dolphin right, extending his right hand, 7.70g, 8h (Fischer-Bossert 587 (V235/R449); Vlasto 459 (these dies); HN Italy 879). Fine style, beautiful old cabinet tone, small area of porosity on the obverse, otherwise well-struck and good very fine, superior to the Vlasto example and very rare, apparently only two other recorded examples from this pair of dies.
