ANCIENT COINS. Greek. Cilicia, Tarsos, Satrap Mazaios (c.361-334 BC), Silver Stater, Baaltars, wearing a himation over his lower limbs, seated to left, his head and upper body facing, holding an eagle, an ear of corn and a bunch of grapes in his right hand, and a lotus-headed sceptre in his left, Aramaic legend on right ('BLTRZ' = Baaltars), Aramaic letters on left and below seat, rev lion attacking a bull to left, Aramaic legend above ('MZDI' = Mazaios), a monogram below, 11.03g, 12h (SNG Levante 106; SNG France 335 var; SNG Copenhagen 312 var). Attractive blue-grey toning, extremely fine.
