Finland Finlands Bank 1000 Markkaa 1909 Pick 15 PMG Very Fine 30. This incredible 1000 Markkaa note is the first of nine Finnish notes that were set aside for unknown reasons. The continuity as a set is important, as it points to a special reason for their existence in this form, albeit unknown at this point. Each of the notes offered here has star cut out cancels, as well as oval stamped cancellations dated June 12, 1919, "MAKULERAD / MITATON". On back is ANNULERAD stamped cancellation in block letters. Great care was taken in placing the stamps on each note, and the presence of two serial number 1 notes in the set give us a general idea that these pieces were saved for official reasons, likely by the Finnish National Bank. We may not know the exact purpose of this group having been cancelled and set aside on the same day, but some argument could be made that their importance of their story will unfold with more research. However, many would argue that their cancellations within the bank, and storage thereafter, would make them bank Specimen. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/finland-finlands-bank-1000-markkaa-1909-pick-15-pmg-very-fine-30/a/4029-28297.s?type=CoinArchivesCurrency4029 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
