USA, Colonials, Auctori Plebis Token, 1736, portrait of George III right, struck in low relief, legend surrounding, .AUCTORI. .PLEBIS., IC initials below bust, rev. crowned harp, date divided below, legend above, HISPANIOLA, 6.28g (Breen-1149). Softly struck so as to resemble a circulated piece, corrosion spots on obverse and scattered verdigris, otherwise good fine or better for issue and extremely rare.

Struck with a circulated appearance to imply previous acceptance in trade, this extremely rare token type is presumed to have been produced for export to the US. Supposedly around a dozen of this type survive in all grades.
(£400-600)
