Griquatown, South Africa, copper 1/2 penny, no date (1815-16), diagonally reeded edge, rare, NGC UNC details / corrosion.Hern-GT3; KM-Tn2.Dark chocolate toning over mark-free surfaces that show a faint veneer of pitting instead of luster, still choice condition as lacking any wear (most were melted), important first coinage of South Africa (see note in lot 1128 above).
