Cuiaba. João VI Counterstamped 960 Reis ND (1821) VF35 NGC, KM350, LMB-487. Displaying crowned 960 over C within wreath counterstamp on the obverse, and arms of Brazil counterstamp (AU Strong) on the reverse of a Charles III 8 Reales 1808 PTS-PJ from Bolivia (cf. KM73). An appealing straight-graded specimen of this so-called "rarest Brazilian counterstamp" according to the Standard Catalog of World Coins, expressed with a charming clarity that is seldom seen. Though designated as only a VF, the host exhibits a relative absence of singularly distracting marks with mild traces of luster just visible around the protected regions of the peripheral designs.
