Pedro I 960 Reis 1827-R AU Details (Reverse Graffiti) NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM368.1, LMB-508, Bentes-474.35 (R2). 28 tulip variety. A rare date with a paltry mintage of 18,000, spread throughout five separate varieties. Bentes notes this variety as an R.2 with very few examples coming to market in the last decade. The current specimen presents marigold and amber undertones permeating the allover charcoal surfaces. The noted reverse graffiti is fairly light and masked by the darker fields, but obvious once illuminated.
