Pedro II 400 Reis 1843 AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM453, LMB-541, Bentes-579.06. The most elusive 400 Reis of Pedro II, with mintage figures numbering at 161, making it the fourth rarest collectible issue of the entire Cruzado series. A specimen carrying soft hints of pastel iridescence amidst hairlined argent fields thus defining the assigned designation. There are likely less than a dozen of these coins known to exist today, with only two having made their way to NGC, this example and another AU Details piece. Heritage had the fortunate of offering two such specimens, one being the Paulistana piece and neither of which are the current offering. Likely to attract considerable attention, especially considering the other Cruzado rarities seen in this sale.
