temp. Philip IV silver Atocha Shipwreck Recovery Bar of 85 troy lb 0.16 troy oz xxx2 (1622), Amongst the largest ownable relics of this most famous of shipwreck recoveries, this massive silver ingot possesses a historical clout that can quite literally be felt. Containing just over 1020 troy ounces of silver, stamped across the piece as piece 2320 fine (out of a maximum fineness of 2400), this piece is fully regardable as massive, its surfaces an even stone gray with comparatively mild granularity for its time spent underwater. Of particular note for the example seen here is the relative clarity and numerousness of its stamps, including a legible final digit of the date and several nearly full tax seals. Included with this lot is the original certificate that accompanied the piece with the facsimile signature of treasure-hunter Mel Fisher.
