German Colony. Wilhelm II Proof 5 Mark 1894-A PR64 PCGS, Berlin mint, KM7, J-707. Of sharp preservation and technical caliber for the type, and featuring the majestic Bird of Paradise design so representative of the issue. High-gloss fields immediately reveal this offering's special Proof production, this observation only further underscored by a sharply executed strike that leaves crisp definition in the bird's plumage and within the intricate reverse details. An airy silver patina, carrying just a hint of golden iridescence, decorates the fields, across which hardly any distractions are to be found, save for a single thin graze below the bird's tailfeathers between 5 and 6 o'clock. A fine relic of the period, and one that clearly deserves close bidder inspection and consideration.
