Great Britain
George IV gold Sovereign 1825 MS64 PCGS, KM696, S-3801. An exceedingly difficult Sovereign issue to locate in so fine a conditional state as this. Beaming luster captures the viewer's gaze upon even a cursory glance, with slow rotation under light unleashing a dazzling cartwheel effect that highlights an exceptional degree of care in preservation. The strike appears very nearly complete, resulting in sharply rendered detail across George's hair and the majority of even the most minute elements that decorate the reverse shield. The King's portrait is almost fully frosted, and we note that even Dr. Terner himself found such fullness of frosting decidedly rare in George IV's "Bare Head" Sovereigns, with most showing some element of rub across his features. Despite a long search, Terner was never able to locate a finer example.
