William IV Proof Crown 1831 PR64 Deep Cameo PCGS, KM715, S-3833, ESC-2462 (R2). Plain edge. With W.W. initials on truncation. A fabled Proof-only type produced for inclusion in William's coronation Proof set, and one which stands very near the peak of the certified population. Overlaid in a profusion of iridescent hues, producing a veritable rainbow silhouetting the central features, the present coin is easily meriting of a "star" designation on the basis of its eye appeal alone. Containing a clear cameo contrast by virtue of its thickly frosted devices and heavily darkened surfaces, owing to its deep cabinet patination, its grade seems bound by only a small graze before the king's forehead and in the curls of his hair.
