Cisalpine Republic Scudo of 6 Lire Anno VIII (1800) MS65 PCGS, Milan mint, KM-C2, Dav-199, Pag-8, MIR-477. A stunning gem example of this highly medallic Scudo issue, produced under the short-lived Cisalpine Republic, a protectorate and "sister state" of the French Republic during the period of its revolution, which saw French territorial ambitions extend into the Italian domains of the Holy Roman Empire and other lesser regional powers. A serene, silty steel tone blankets the surfaces, revealing sharp glints of argent luster underneath amidst scattered light accents of inviting tangerine tone. Sharply struck, highly appealing, and rarely found so well preserved.
