British Outpost. George III Tackoe 1796 MS65 NGC, KM-Tn1, FT-9. Mintage: 5,760. An extremely impressive level of preservation for this issue that is more often found well circulated, as indicated by the two examples present in Pridmore's own collection: one a Proof and the other, by contrast, a mere VF. Unsurprisingly, this example correspondingly ranks as the single finest certified by NGC, a full three grade points about the next highest. We note that while the Standard Catalog lists a mintage for the type of 5,760, Vice records 12,160 struck.
