YOU ZHOU AUTONOMOUS REGION: Anonymous, 900-914, iron 100 cash (13.26g), H-15.162, yong an yi bai, usual encrustation, VF. From 822, the You Zhou (within modern Hebei) area enjoyed virtual independence from the rest of the empire. At the end of the ninth century, the Regional Commandant of You Zhou was Liu Rengong, succeeded by his son Liu Shouguang from 911. The histories say that Liu Rengong minted iron coins. We have handled only a few of these types in iron and all were heavily encrusted.
