Middlesex 173 (Scarce). Miscellaneous Series. Probably D&H plate coin. Copper penny. 24.09 gm. 35 mm. Dies by Jacobs. 1797. Front view of a building; THE HOUSE OF COMMONS FROM THE THAMES BUILT 1552 around / A cap of liberty atop a pole, a coronet halfway down the pole over a corncopia and a palm branch; PEACE LIBERTY AND PLENTY 1797 around. Edge: I PROMISE TO PAY ON DEMAND THE BEARER ONE PENNY. Uncirculated; lightly toned over almost prooflike surfaces; a slight spot at the "A" of THAMES on the obverse; early die failure evident in the reverse field (with NGC MS 63 BN tag).

The Mike Sussman Collection of British Trade Tokens. Ex Baldwin with "Dalton" on accompanying tag indicating it came from his collection. Probably D&H plate coin (cf. his name on the old tag; configuration of edge denticles).
