KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great.' 336-323 B.C. AR tetradrachm. 16.26 gm. 34 mm. Temnos mint, Echenikos and Geitas magistrates. Struck circa 188-170 B.C. Head of youthful Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus seated left on throne with back, holding eagle and scepter; EXENI / KOΣ to left above Zeus's knee; vine tendril with grapes around an oenochoe to lower left; ΓΕΙ / ΤΑΣ below throne; ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ. Price 1690. Good Very Fine; lightly toned; thin scratch in obverse field, and a few minor marks; well centered and well struck on a huge flan. Pleasing example, of especially appealing style.
