THRACE. Maroneia. Circa 189/8-49/5 B.C. AR tetradrachm. 14.31 gm. 32.5 mm. Head of youthful Dionysos right, wearing ivy wreath / Dionysos standing left, nude but for chlamys draped over his arm, holding grape bunch and two narthex stalks; monogram to either side at his feet; ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΥ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΜΑΡΩΝΙΤΩΝ. HGC 3.2, 1556. Schönert-Geiss 1202 (V64/R206). Good Very Fine; a few light scratches; die break in obverse field; attractive light iridescent toning; good style bust in high relief; well centered on a dramatically broad flan. Pleasing coin.
