PELOPONNESOS. ARGOLIS. Argos. Circa 450-430/20 B.C. AR triobol. 2.58 gm. 13 mm. Forepart of wolf at bay left; ΣO below / Large A, pellet below crossbar, in two part incuse square. BCD Peloponnesos 1030. BMC 16 var. Near Very Fine; attractive old toning. Very Rare (by virtue of condition). BCD: "Archaic triobols (such as this one) usually turn up much more worn, (because) they were part of the staple Peloponnesian currency down to the 2nd century B.C.," making nice examples like this one extremely rare.
