French Somaliland 1909 P-2p PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ 20 Francs (Proof)
The Bank of Indo-China opened in Djibouti in 1908, and 5, 20, and 100 Francs notes were issued the following year. Any relic from the first series of French Somaliland banknotes are a treasure, as so few exist today. This 20 Francs is simply stunning in Proof form, as all designs are on full display. Gem quality presentation is remarkable. This is the only Proof or Specimen to be accounted for in the PMG Population Report. Also, there is only one issued note graded as well, which is a 1910 20 Francs in Fine 12 grade. Do not miss this design for Djibouti, as it is significantly rarely than French Indochina and New Caledonia contemporary notes.
