KINGS OF MACEDON. Perseus, 179-168 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 2.73 g, 9 h), pseudo-Rhodian type, struck for the mercenaries of Perseus during the third Macedonian war, uncertain mint, probably in Samothrace, 171-168, with the name of the Rhodian mint magistrate Gorgos. Head of Helios facing slightly to right. Rev. ΓOPΓOΣ / P - O Rose with bud right; to left, race torch. Ashton, Clubs, Part 2, 26 (A2/P3). Attractively toned. Flan crack, otherwise, about extremely fine.
