BOEOTIA. Thebes. Circa 395-338 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 11.82 g, 10 h), struck under the magistrate Psaro..., circa 379-368 BC. Boeotian shield. Rev. ΨA-RO Amphora with tall handles and a decorated upper half; above, laurel wreath. BCD Boiotia 508. Hepworth 93. Very fine.
The BCD catalogues document the magistrate's name here as Charo... even though the letter form of the X on this coin appears as a Ψ. Charon was the leader of the nationalist insurrection at Thebes in 379 BC.
