KINGS OF BOSPOROS. Rhoemetalces I, Circa 11 BC - AD 12. As (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.61 g, 3 h). ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ Scepter and cornucopia in saltire and a capricorn to right. Rev. POIMHTAΛΚΟΥ Sella curulis and scepter. RPC I 1704. Youroukova 165-7. Dark green patina. Very fine.
The obverse type seems to be invariably described, following the RPC, as being a "fasces and capricorn". While the somewhat pinecone-shaped item on the right is clearly a capricorn, though an odd one, the item on the left is anything but a fasces!! It is very similar to Juba II's.
