CILICIA. Uncertain. 4th century BC. Obol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.41 g, 7 h). Veiled and draped female bust facing slightly to left. Rev. Bearded bust of Herakles to left, lion's skin draped around neck. SNG BN 480. SNG Levante 220. Well-centered and struck, but of crude (perhaps barbarous?) style. Good very fine.

This particular obol is a fairly common type from Cilicia, usually struck from dies of remarkably good style. This example is struck from rather crudely engraved dies, and the coin is both light weight and struck on a small flan compared to the examples having the better engraved dies. This crude issue is reasonably common as well, but much less so than examples from the finer dies.
