Tetradrachm obverse die signed by Phrygillos and reverse die in the style of Euarchidas circa 413-399, AR 16.89 g. [Σ]Y – [P] – A – KΩ – ΣI – ON Head of nymph Arethusa l., hair in ampyx with [ΦPY] on the front, wearing single-pendant earring and pearl necklace; around four dolphins. Rev. Charioteer, holding kentron in r. hand and reins in l., driving fast quadriga l.; above, Nike flying r., crowning charioteer with wreath. In exergue, barley ear l. Boston, MFA 409 (these dies). Very rare. A very attractive portrait of excellent Classical style and an interesting
reverse composition. Lovely light iridescent tone, Two areas of oxidation
on obverse, otherwise good very fine
