PAPHLAGONIA. Neoclaudiopolis. Trajan, 98-117. Assarion (Bronze, 22 mm, 5.47 g, 12 h), CY 107 = 101/2. [ΑΥΤ ΝΕΡ] ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ [ϹΕΒ ΓΕΡ ΔΑΚΙΚΟϹ] Laureate head of Trajan to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. ΝΕΟΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΠΟΛΕΙΤⲰΝ / P-Z Shield inscribed [ΔΑΚΙ/ΚΟC] with two crossed spears behind. RPC III 2905 (same dies). Of the highest rarity, apparently the second known example. Fine.
This is the first emission of the city of Neoclaudiopolis. It was struck in the year 107 of an era starting in 6/5 BC = 101/2 and celebrates Trajan's early victories against the Dacian tribes.
