Koryphaios is an epithet of Zeus referring to his role as supreme god of the mountaintops. He was worshipped as such in Philadelphia in Lydia and in Seleucia Pieria, but the Greeks also equated Zeus Koryphaios with Jupiter Capitolinus. Theoderet of Cyrrhus, a 5th century theologian, reports that the name derives from Mount Koryphe near Antiochia on the Orontes, where an oracle of Zeus Koryphaios existed.
