Zeus Boulaios was the patron god of the boulé, the council of the city. Pausanias records that in the Bouleuterion of Athens, there '... are a wooden figure of Zeus Boulaios, as well as an Apollon, the work of Peisias, and a Demos by Lyson' (Paus. 1.3.5).
