[Θ / IⲰ] - O / ΠΡ/ΟΔ/P ("Saint John, the Forerunner") Nimbate half-length bust of St. Johannes Prodromos, holding long cross. Rev. +KЄ RO/HΘЄI TⲰ CⲰ / Δ, CARA ЄΠ/ICKOΠ, Δ/... in five lines. Unpublished in the standard references. An exceptional depiction of John the Baptist on the seal of a Byzantine bishop. Struck on a short flan, otherwise, very fine.
